Today, industry giant Microsoft has announced that its new webmail service, Outlook.com, is leaving beta testing and is now ready for the big leagues. Outlook.com now has 60 million users and will now replace Hotmail.com, which has been up and running since 1997.
Hotmail users will still have their Hotmail.com email addresses and their emails and contacts will be transferred over, they will now just get a new user interface and features of Outlook.com. Microsoft expects the Hotmail users upgrades to be completed by this summer.
Outlook.com was designed with a similar look and feel as Microsoft’s Windows 8 operating system. One of its new feature, Sweep, can move newsletters, promotional messages and other recurring emails into their own folders or the trash.
