Some experts are predicting Microsoft will be obsolete by 2017! What do you think?

Tampa, Obsolete, Microsoft

The  Epoch Times yesterday issued a report that Microsoft could be obsolete by 2017.

During its prime, Microsoft was in control of almost 90% of the operating systems; however, this new report said that since Microsoft has been falling in popularity in the last few years that it could literally be obsolete by 2017.

The rumors of Microsoft becoming obsolete were first mentioned when smartphone, tablets, laptops and handhelds began to replace the consumer use of personal computers.

The technology firm, Gartner, has reported that with the increased use of mobile devices, Microsoft spotlight will soon fade.  The reports estimates that Microsoft products will drop far behind Google’s Android sales, estimated to be around 900 million units; however, Microsoft may hold a small rise over Apple‘s products.

The current national standings have Android accounts for 497 million.  Microsoft Windows is just under the 347 million mark, While Apple is sitting around 213 million.

Personally, I do not believe that Microsoft will be obsolete by 2017.  Microsoft does not only offer Windows.  They also offer many applications still used in the business world and don’t forget about the Xbox gaming systems.
